12 Days Of Christmas

This is project number 8 & 9 , I have made a Shadow gift box that sits inside the Explosion box.

The Explosion box is like any other, since my box is 7 1/2" tall, I had to cut 4 panels from A4 cardstock that measured 7 1/2" x 4 1/4" and for the base I cut a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" and glued each panel , I then layered it with the Peaceful Prints DSP on the outside and for the inside panels I layered it with Basic White cardstock  that measured 7 1/4" x  4". I stamped the images using Peaceful Deer stamp set and the Whimsical Trees stamp set.

SHADOW BOX: You need two pieces :  4" x 3 1/2", with the short side to the top score at 1/2", 1 1/2", 2" & 3" as shown in the picture below.

Measure down 1/2" from the top, across the 1/2" and the 1 1/2" panels draw a straight line, then draw a line on an angle from the 1 1/2" panel to the top of the 2" panel as shown in the picture, do this at both ends and cut out the area shaded in green. I hope this makes sense.

2 pieces 5 x 3 1/2 repeat the same score lines as above then turn with long side to the top and score at 1/2 at both ends cut away the area shaded in green you should be left with two tabs on the 5" side.

Once you have all 4 pieces glue them at the corners to form 1 half of the box which is the base, so to make the other half, the lid, follow the same process, in total you will need 8 pieces.

You need 2 pieces of cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 4 1/4", for the lid and the base of the box, I then layered each piece with DSP measuring 4"x4".

To make this box open and close I made a hinge 3 3/4" x 1 " and scored in half with the short side to the top, adhered to the back of the two halves, so now you should be able to open and close the box, you can add ribbon or magnets for the closure. To finish the inside of the box I cut two pieces of Real Red cardstock measuring 2 7/8" x 2 7/8".

Thank you for stopping by, I'll be back with project number 10.

Take care and stay safe,

Cheers,

Fiona
